• It's nice to be able to say that I would still definitely pick this book up and read it of my own will even if I weren't a long-time fan of Leda. I've been sucked into the world of Amniven fully and I just couldn't put the book down; I simply just HAD to know what was happening next!
  
  As with the first book, there are still plenty of words used that totally threw me through a loop when reading it, and caused me to pause and look up the definition (such as a super fancy word describing something as "goat-like", instead of just using "goat-like" or something similar). But the number of those confusing and obscure words was seemingly much less than in Stars Wake and made it much easier to get through while still having colorful narative! There were also still some errors in final production, but it happens. Nothing insanely jarring, but it's not 100% polished.
  
  It was a pleasure to see the summary at the beginning of the book to refresh before jumping into this second part of this story. Some parts did seem like the details were severely overlooked, such as two characters interacting when some small event happens, and then no mention of what the other character was doing or how they reacted after it happened.
  
  Another thing is the amount of the butterfly icon spacers... It was hard for me to judge why they were placed the way they were. In Stars Wake, there were relatively few of them and they generally seemed to mark the passage of longer periods of time. However in Shadows Burn, some of them marked long passages of time while others seemed to mark a character responding immediately to dialogue that happened just moments before. I found it distracting, but part of me thinks that maybe they have some sort of relevancy to some unspoken event that will take place later in the series and that the reason there were so few in Stars Wake is because it was just the beginning.
  
  I look forward to the future of this series and can't wait to learn more about Luxea and Widow.
• On Stars Wake, I gave it a rating of 3 out of 5. I rated it that way because although I was fond of the characters, the story, and the world itself, the book wasn't perfect for reasons that I mentioned. With that being said, I stongly believe that this book deserves 5 stars. My goodness, it is fantastic! I cannot put into words the roller coaster of emotions that I felt while reading. It was dark, heart-wrenching, and disturbing, yet there was a perfect balance of humor & bittersweet moments. The pace was on point, every character was fleshed out even more, and the author's writing style has improved since the first book. If anyone is hesitant on ordering, just do it! Seriously, this book is wonderful. I'm so proud of Leda and I can't wait for her future releases!
• I fell in love with the characters in the first book, but in this sequel I found myself in love with the world. The pacing was great, analogies unique and captivating. I can’t wait to see this series continue to develop! The plot in “Shadows Burn” became so intense and exciting. I love the poetic flare in her writers voice as well as the way she balances elegance with quirk. It’s imperfectly perfect. I can’t predict what will happen next, so Leda please bring us the third book soon!!!
• I am a big Mooncallers fan and I loved the second book. You learn more about the characters and more of Luxea’s mysterious past. The adventures are phenomenal and there’s even little bits of romance here and there that leave you wanting more. I read the second book so fast and I was sad that it was over. I cannot wait until the next book comes out! If you enjoy fantasy I highly recommend this series!
• Mooncallers Shadows Burn is an incredible adventure, jumping in right where Stars Wake left off. We meet many new faces, discover new places, some questions are answered, and even more mysteries unfold as the story unravels.
  The world of Amniven continues to surprise and impress me, as does Leda's writing.
  She is a talented author, capable of bringing beautiful Amniven to life!
• Leda’s style of writing is phenomenal! Being a self published author myself, supporting other people in the same field as me is what I strive to do! The first book was amazing, and this second book is even more awesome! Can’t wait for the third!
